You're looking at what?

I posted my last post
with this adorable picture

of this darling baby
by this beautiful tree
and my sister makes this comment.

He is so adorable!
What's with the chair from the 50's?

Don't get me wrong I love pink and yellow flower chairs,
I've just never seen one in your house before ;)
N&C find?

Okay, I guess lets forget the baby in the middle for two seconds
How could you even see the chair in the back?

I had to blow up the picture
to even see the corner of it

that you could barely see
and I know what it looks like.

So to you Rachie Coray
I say this

Are you mocking my chair?
My $5 dollar, darling, garage sale chair?
You better check yourself before you wreck yourself girl...
Kidding, but...
I love it.

It is relatively new to me,
and I am just waiting for the perfect fabric to grab me
before I replace the yellow brown and pink shiny, vinyl
that crinkles and rustles when you sit on it.

It doesn't currently match the front room
but has the cutest shape
and is so comfy I couldn't resist.
$5.
Do I need to repeat myself?
$5

Ryan had a similar reaction
and actually asked
if we had to even bring it through the door
let alone put it in the front room.

but I will have you know,
two people offered me $10
before I could even drag it to my car
and several since
have asked me to call them if I want to sell it
This chair evidently brings out extreme emotions in people
they really love it
or really don't

Mock me if you must
I really love it.
Just imagine those buttons replaced with amazing vintage ones
Any fabric suggestions?
patterns?
Textures?

This teaches me
to focus on the cute baby in the middle
instead of the obscure peek
of the ugly chair in the background

P.S. The amazing honeycomb quilt
on the quilt rack in the background
(in case you are looking in the background like my sister)
is also a $5 garage sale find
Hand pieced
Hand quilted
AMAZING COLORS

Find of the year I am sure
Major Score.

The chair will look lovely beside it when I done with it.

Jack O' Lanterning the Neighborhood One Garage Party at a Time

My Fab Neighbor
Jenger
missed her true life calling
(besides being a wife and mother- she rocks that)

She should have been an event planner

Our boring little neighborhood
has been hopping lately
thanks to her.

Labor Day Picnic
(sorry, no camera, no pics)

and now
a Pumpkin Carving Party

Which unfortunately was rained out of her backyard
and fortunately into my recently cleaned garage
(thank you honey for cleaning it even though I wished it had been the kitchen at the time)

People brought treats
(somehow, I only have a pic of the empty Cider Pot)

and pumpkins

and happy laughter

and fun

and pumpkin carving tools to share

these were our first designer pumpkins
(more than just the good old triangle eyes nose and gap toothed mouth)

and I think they
turned out pretty darn good

Poo poo for you
all you neighbors
who chose to ignore our invitations
to make merry

You missed a rockin
(if somewhat messy and slimy)
garage pumpkin party.

Thank you Jenger
for following through on your awesome idea.
Loved it.

New Moon and the Ninja Turkey

You know when you try really hard
to do something cool,
and you just miss it,
or it takes hours
instead of presto there you go.

Caden had to disguise his Turkey
and take it back to school.

What else in the world would you make a turkey
besides a Ninja

Caden could not think of anything else.

This fun little project
took forever.

Its hard to cut a garbage bag
into a Ninja costume
that fits onto a turkey.

Mission accomplished
Pat on the back for me,

(after an hour and a half of cursing under my breath)

Then,
we thought
(Holly and I)
that embroidering New Moon shirts
wouldn't be that hard

get a couple of shirts,
throw them together
wear them to the movie
you know
Presto chango.

Mess

Mess ups
went through 6 shirts
to end up with three

Kim said
she preferred to think Jacob
couldn't keep his hands off her
while she was wearing this
(Thanks for trying to make us feel better Kim)

that we did not sew through
punch holes in
that were not crooked across the chest area
thus drawing undo attention.
Mess

I kept mine simple
for shear fear
that I anymore would mess it up further
and result in a do over

Pat on the back for Holly
(a little one for me)
for finally getting it right

and making the dang shirts
to wear to the dang movie.

Holly,
there is no one
I would rather curse with under my breath
than you.
While trying to figure out our crazy hair brained schemes
that always seem so simple
in the beginning.

Gift Baskets Rock

My outrageously creative sister
Rachel
Had these waiting for us by our beds
When we got to Florida.

Favorites and essentials.
All wrapped up in celophane.
I loved it.
Made me giddy
I loved it so much.
Who thinks of that?
My rockin sister does.

I can count the number of gift baskets I have ever gotten
on one hand.
But I love them,
and if I love them, wouldn't everybody love one?
I should make gift baskets
for when people come to my house.
Come stay with me,
I will lower myself to the status of copycat
and make one for you!
You should make gift baskets for when people come to YOUR House,
I would totally come and stay with you
if you did.
Then I would blog about you.
Then you would know you were special!

Thanks Rachie.
Very cool.
But then, you always are.

Maybe I should do a Twinkle Bee/ Handi Andi
Gift Basket Give Away.
What do you think?
Let me know.
Maybe I will get with the powers that "bee"
and see what we can do.
