Forget Disneyland... Buy a Plastic Tub

I could here whispering,
then a huge crash,
then WILD giggling.

Usually not a good sign in the Price household.

So I jumped up from the sewing chair
and went to investigate.

I found all three of the kids
playing trap you in the tub.

One would get under it
and the other two would scramble
to find all the heavy things
they could get their hands on.

Things like
a fly swatter,

and a gold dollar,
and a stuffed Bambi toy
and and empty sippy cup.

Caden rejected the purse at first,
but then accepted
it once some of Kenna's shoes were put inside.

I thought Kenna and Cohen would freak out
being trapped while the stuff was piled on.

Whatever,
Kenna just took some chips in there with her
and chomped away.

When all the heavy things were stacked on
they all yelled
OKAY
and threw the tub off
and the stuff would crash and scatter.

Then the crazy laughter would begin.

Then it would start all over again
with the next kid.

Why do I spend money on
the zoo,
and the dinosaur museum?
I have plenty of plastic tubs at home
to keep them busy for days.

I think next I will show them
how to turn them into cars,
and we will have a drive in movie
in the living room.

To go Amish or not to go Amish

I am having this
dilema.

To enter
or not to enter.

To stress my self out
work my poor sewing machine to death

or to slowly build up my stock.

To pay the exorbitant entry fee
in hopes of making a killing,

or to save my cash this year,
and maybe plan on next year.

All of this
over the

"Amish Acres Arts & Crafts Festival

Where Arts meet Folk & Folks meet Art"

Those of you who are not from Indiana
have
NO IDEA

what a big shebang this is.
Its huge.
HUGE.

And after talking to the nice lady,
Jenny,
She thinks that my application would be accepted.
and that we would do well there.

And then my dad
(my ever present voice of reason)
reminds me of the economy.
and how hard it is right now.

and then I think,
I don't have much money either,
but I would buy an apron for $24.
and I would only have to sell 30
to make it really worth it.

and I could get all the
twinkle bee
gang in there.

and we could Really have a good time.

But,
I would have to sew my fingers to the bone.
(Not necessarily a bad thing)

I guess it all comes down to,
its a gamble,
and I'm not much of a gambler.
I don't have great luck,
and I really can't afford to go in the hole,
over this hair brained scheme of mine.

But maybe I wouldn't.

See the dilema?

I could use some advice.

What do you think.
Go Amish?
or
Not go Amish?

Apron on the Fly

My baby sister
called me today
and wondered if I could make an apron
for her boss at work.

"Sure," I say,
" Its for her niece,"she says,
and I say, "Okay"
"and she needs it by Thursday"
she says.

This gives me pause.
Because she lives in Florida.
And its Tuesday.

There was no way this could happen,
unless I had a full time nanny
willing to change poop
and answer every whiny call and tattle.

and an army of minions
to do my every bidding.

I called the only person I know
who I knew would come no matter what,

and who is like an army of minions,
even though she is only one person.

Because she is endlessly creative
and she keeps me focused.
(and she often brings McDonald's for the kids for lunch)

Holly
said she would be right over.

I
sincerely hope

Little Princess Sophia
likes
her fairy apron.

and please excuse
my grumpy
wild haired
still pajama clad
daughter
modeling in these pictures.

I don't have that nanny
that I was speaking of earlier.

So not everything got done today.

We Love Summer!

Does life get any better than
Sunshine

Green Grass
Kiddie Pools
and
Spider Man Goggles?

Maybe,
but this day was
pretty darn good.

Yeah, umm... we had a...great time...I think

My friend Amy called
and invited us for a picnic
and then for some afternoon fun at the park.

The park was lovely.

Shaded with huge trees,
and lots of slides.

I thought
we were having a great time.

Then
Kenna fell off
this

Caden
bonked his head
on this

and
Cohen
ran smack into the water fountain,
head first.

And then,
when I uploaded the pictures,
I laughed so hard.

It looks like
they are standing in line
to be tortured.

Not a single smile,
dazed and confused looks on all faces.

So maybe it was just me
that was having a great time
on my shaded little bench
enjoying the nice breeze.

Do you ever get lucky? I mean REALLY lucky?

Yeah, I usually don't either

But when it comes to my
significant other
I got really lucky.

I know that its not luck,
that's its really part of God's Plan for my life.

But I feel like I won the jackpot.

And Wednesday Night

Kim Kinder
(aka Kimmy)
graciously agreed to babysit.

and the husband and I
went on a date.

This is not the norm,
but was really delightful.

The husband,
even brought me a flower.

and while we were at dinner
we began to talk.

and it occured to me
for the millionth time
that
I really like him.

Not just am in love with him,
but like and respect who he is

I LOVE
That we can discuss books and movies
and people, and ideas
forever
and never run out of things to say.

I love
that just going out and spending time with him
was the
best thing in my week.

And,
when we got home
and he walked straight to the sink
and started doing the dishes.
I thought it was incredibly sexy.

Truly great men know
that doing the dishes for their wife
turns them on.

Not Kidding.

See,
luckiest girl in the world.
Right here.

Just call me the Apple Whisperer

I bought a bag of apples
YESTERDAY
at Walmart

This morning as I was cleaning
I kept finding more and more
and more and more
and more apples.

Here is the entire bag.

Lovely huh?

the best part is,
I can tell exactly who was eating the apples.
Each of my kids has a very distinct
apple eating pattern.

Cohen,
The random biter
anywhere he picks it up
and his lips land.

Kenna,
the apple flattener.
She starts on one side and keeps eating
straight across.
But usually only half the apple.

Caden
The ring around the apple eater
he only likes the parts with the peel
once he has eaten all the peel off
he considers it done.

Mostly because he doesn't
want to accidently eat the "nuts"
that are in the middle.

Ryan doesn't eat apples,
and this one was mine.

I think I am going to start hiding them
and handing them out on special occasions.

Cut them up you say?
My kids won't usually eat them this way.
They are
"Broken"
that way.

This means I get to eat
a boatload
of cut up brown apples.

Definitely hiding them

from now on.

Boy Takes Flight

Cohen giggles like none other
when Ryan throws him

Up

Up

Up in the air

He begs
Mo, mo, mo,
until Ryan can barely lift him.

He was meant to be a super hero.
I knew it.

Father and Son

This is a story

about a boy

and his dad

and the boys camera
(that had a very large smudge on the lense
so all the pictures are a tad blurry)
But this is about the boy and his camera right?
Not about the 5 yr old's photography skills.

This boy and his dad left on Friday morning
because the dad was in charge of the
Church Father and Son Camp Out.
This boy could NOT have been more excited.
He could barely sleep the night before
because in the morning.
He was going camping
"Just my dad and me"

The mom begged them to take some good pictures.
The boy said
"Okay mom, They gonna be on the blog?"
"For sure" the mom replied.
"I'll take lots then."

He documented his trip well.

The boy picked some flowers for the mom.
(This melted the mom's heart,
even though the picture of them is all that made it home)

and then he insisted
that the Dad hold them for a picture too.

The boy and his dad slept in a tent

and the dad accidentally locked him in there in the morning.
Luckily dad was there to bust him out
(the zipper got stuck)

It was a toss up
what was the best part
of this "boys only" camp out.

The boy said the four wheeling was fun.

But so was peeing in the woods.

The mom was so happy
1. That the boys had a great time
2. That they remembered to take pictures,
and
3.That she didn't have to deal with peeing in the woods.

The mom also can't wait for next year
when both her little boys
get to go with the dad
on the camping trip.
